Day of Forgiveness…

March2

Only Bulgarians Celebrate the Day of Forgiveness…

ссToday is the Day of Forgiveness in Bulgaria the last Sunday before the Great Lent starts. Forgiveness is an easy thing when you have not done anything wrong but a very serious business when you might have done — intentionally or not — things that might have hurt others.

Bulgarians observe Sunday a self-styled traditional ‘Forgiveness Day‘ on which everyone asks everyone tl,xlo forgive his or her misdeeds over the passed year.

The holiday is observed on a Sunday, exactly seven weeks before Easter, and is also called Sirni Zagovezni. That name refers to the fact that one is allowed to eat milk products, the day being located within the Easter Fast. Sirni Zagovezni is also considered a preparation for the Great Lent.

kukeriIn some parts of the country the forgiveness day is also associated with the manifestly pagan kukeri dance, in which men dressed like demons try to chase evil spirits away.

The most typical tradition connected to that day is starting the feast fires. Right from the very dawn, a Koukeri band starts its walk around everybody’s home. By means of various symbolic and ritual-magic actions, they are wishing health, land fertility and prosperity to the hosts.
kukeri1 At Shrove Sunday, the spirit gets purged by the forgiveness given and asked for, the body gets stronger if the person manages to jump over the fire, and the nature sends away evil forces by the ringing of the Koukeri bells. The dance of those masked men brings blessing and land fertility. A Kouker young woman (also called “bride”) starts ploughing the field and calls fertility, health and good luck to come into people’s houses…

There is a delightful Bulgarian tradition on this Day of Forgiveness to play a game in which the children try to catch a hard-boiled egg suspended on a string from a rod while using mouths only and no hands. It was one of those dear childhood memories that brought unrestrained laughter into my family.

Now I am at New York, USA, 5805,53 miles away from my beloved Bulgaria, my lovely parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and my amazing sister, but that won’t stop me of celebrate this day with my husband and friends. :)

Hope you all, will find this tradition interesting and you all, will forgive your friends and family too, for everything they have been wrong during 2013. Any thoughts on this great Bulgarian tradition are welcome… :)

Chestita Baba Marta or Happy Baba Marta!

March1

babHey! Today’s the 1st of March.

That can only mean one thing: throughout the day everyone in Bulgaria will be happily exchanging martenitsi and wishing each other Happy Baba Marta or in Bulgarian Chestita Baba Marta. I love this tradition. I’ve never seen another holiday in Bulgaria that produces such joy throughout the day. I love it a lot in fact. Last year I gave to my friends and family more then a 100 martenitsi.

However it’s not just the martenitsi that make me like this holiday so much. Before I tell you why I love this holiday and especially the red and white boy and girl Piju and Panda, so cute, let me tell you more about the folklore behind the holiday!

babamartacopy b m 2

There are various theories and suggestions (even several legends, involving real historical figures) about the symbolism of these two particular colors – red & white, from which Martenitsa are made. An obvious explanation and perhaps a common belief people share, is that “red” stands for “life/birth” and “white” denotes “anew/on clear grounds”. Combined together, they mean “newborn”, “rebirth”, “a new beginning”; a celebration of Life and Survival. Another popular explanation is that white stands for wisdom and red for good health, which means that anyone giving you a Martenitsa is wishing you both throughout the new year.

bm 1

The tradition of the red and white woven strings that we exchange supposedly dates back to the times of Khan Asparuh. For those of you not up on our Bulgarian history, Khan Asparuh is the man who is credited with the establishment of the first Bulgarian empire and the martenitsi. He was a busy man. Rumor has it he tied two strings one red and one white to his falcon after a battle to signal to his wife that he was still alive. The tradition was born from this…

Story of Baba Marta….

bmaaIn folklore, Baba Marta is presented as a sister or a wife of the great long-horned beetle (January) and the small long-horned beetle (February). She is always dissatisfied with them – They are either drunk on wine, or they do other harm . The old woman (bride) becomes angry, hence the weather breaks. According to a widespread story, an old shepherd gave rise to her flock in the mountains last March days, thinking that Baba Marta will bestow on her a good time because she is as old as her. Baba Marta became angry and asked her brother (April) to borrow her a few days. April granted her wish and these days are called “borrowed days”, “zaemnitsi”, “few days” in folk tradition. Martha let the strong snows and blizzards that froze the shepherd and her flock in the mountains. Frozen become a pile of rocks that flowed healing…

You can read more about this special Bulgarian tradition at Wikipedia!

me b m 1I feel pretty special wearing my first martenitsi! Hope you are staying warm in your homes, and for all our sakes, I hope the weather stays warm! :)

May spring find you sooner than later wherever you are.

The most amazing YOUNG reader I have ever had the pleasure to meet…

January26

Screen Shot 2014-01-26 at 9.10.50 AMHere’s what you’ve been waiting for! I had the chance to meet Aubrey Joy. She is a young woman who leaves her unique and honest life. There are a few things that struck me about Aubrey‘s experiences. First, she likes being a dancer and reader. The most two amazing things for me on her age. :) Second she is interested in almost everything. She is good at a lot of her school activities and she loves doing all of them. Aubrey have many interests,  and she is great at all of them, because she is passionate about all. This amazing girl agree to share with me and you guys her story and why she start her amazing blog – YA Book Reviews.

“If one cannot enjoy a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” ~Oscar Wilde

So, here is her guest post! Hope you will enjoy it! :)

:) :) :) Hey there! My name is Aubrey Joy and I’m a 14-year old and am a freshman in high school. :) :) :)

Screen Shot 2014-01-26 at 9.09.34 AM<= Aubrey with her best girl friends Kaitlyn and Lauren!

I live in a small town in Iowa on a farm. My dad is a farmer and he drives trucks for a local company and my mom is hair dresser and nail technician. My brother is a seventh grade student at the local middle school and he’s in dance, football, and soccer. He is in tap, jazz, modern, and ballet for dance and he claims he doesn’t like it, but he does. I’m at the dance studio 8 hours a week doing ballet, Pointe, lyrical, modern, tap and jazz.

Dancing and reading are some of the most important things in my life as of right now. When I grow up I would like to be a professional ballet dancer at a small ballet company. I would like to travel the world and help over the summer with building houses or something of that nature.

After being a dancer I would love to do something with reading. If I ever got a great idea I would possibly write a story, but as of right now I would love to be part of a publishing company. I would love to get to edit stories that already are there, but add something to it.

How to write a guest post pic 1<= Aubrey’s Blog Page!

I started my blog in December of 2013 because I wanted to have a blog or YouTube channel all about books. I decided to have a blog because you can be more prepared for it and it doesn’t matter if you sound scripted. I like the way my written words sound as well. I’ve been a reader for as long as I can remember.

My mom used to read my younger brother and I the books I Love You Like Crazy Cakes and The Kissing Hand. I recall reading Junie B. Jones and The Magic Tree house in early elementary school, and then starting to read Nancy Drew in fourth grade. The book that got me really into reading, though, was Esperanza Rising. That was my favorite book all through elementary and I read it 5 or 6 times. I didn’t really understand it all that well because some of it was in Spanish, but I continued reading it because I loved the story.

harry potters books mortal instruments booksDuring fourth grade, my teacher read our class one of my favorite books of all time, Tuck Everlasting. We watched the movie right after we read the book and I remember all my classmates saying how much better the movie was than the book, but I was pointing out all that the movie did wrong. By the beginning of middle school I had started reading the Harry Potter books and that definitely kick-started my reading. I only read up until number four, but plan on continuing on with the series for sure. Eighth grade was when I discovered The Mortal Instruments books which soon became my favorite series. After reading The Fault in Our Stars, it quickly became my absolute favorite book of all time. I read this wonderful John Green novel at the beginning of my freshman year.

Screen Shot 2014-01-26 at 9.10.32 AM<= Aubrey with her best friends Mark and Kaitlyn!

When I read books, I get absolutely immersed into the story’s world. When I’m stressed out or in need of a break from my life, I pick up my book. When I’m mad or irritated with my friends or my family I pick up my book and become part of the story. I buy way too many books because that’s just what I do. For gifts all I ask for are different books, it’s kind of a problem actually… :)

Like I said above, I have a blog that I started in December of last year. One of the main reasons I started a blog in the first place was because none of my friends really cared when I told them they should read a book. They kind of disregarded my recommendations because they aren’t really readers. I wanted to post my opinions online because I thought it would be fun to connect with people who enjoy the same things that I do.

Thank you so much for wanting me to post on your blog! It was wonderful getting to know you!

P.S. If you have any questions to ask, Aubrey would be glad to answer all of them, me too. :) :) :)

My questions areWhat you guys think of Aubrey’s journey and her experience with reading books and writing book reviews? Do you think more young people /kids/ should read as much as she did, or no? Do you believe that kids form small towns and communities are more open to books, sports, dancing and etc.?

Tell me what you think, I would love to read your comments, discuss and try to see from your point of view… :) Happy Sunday!

How to write a Kick-ass Guest Post?

Aubrey’s Blog!

Before a couple of days ago a was happy to find a really awesome blog – YA Book Reviews. Aubrey Joy is yang but incredibly creative reader. She read whenever she isn’t at the dance studio taking her favorite classes. That’s make her expert in YA books. You can find her Review Policy and Contact HERE.

Next week Aubrey will be my guest blogger and she will tell us more about her passionate about reading books and writing reviews. Because she ask me How to write a Guest Post I have decided to write this post.

Thrilled to find your blog Aubrey. Sweetie, please continue reading and supporting authors with your amazing and very honest reviews.  :) Hope this post it will help you to write your first GREAT AND KICK-ASS GUEST POST!!!

Now back to my post. You want to write a great guest posts so here are some tips on helping your cause. Guest blogging is your chance to get in front of new audiences – audiences that have been painstakingly developed by the blog owner. When I publish a guest post, I am putting my reputation on the line by endorsing you and your opinion. :)

Granted, guest blogging won’t always work, but if you’re using it for the right reasons, 80% of the time you’ll be successful. It’s not all about the link. If you’re putting out legitimate content that will truly help their readers and you don’t over promote yourself, you’re golden.

In this post I am going to show you the seven crucial tactics for writing a guest post.

  • If you want to stand out in life, you have to be original.

Advice: A good blog post offers insight and value. It’s not a cheap form of promotion for your business. Pick a great title, a famous phrase, a popular quote or something really crazy and wild that it will make people want to read what is behind that title. There are zillions of blog posts about how to write great headlines (like this one, this one and this one for starters). Read them. Apply them.

  • Leave the links for your bio.

Advice: Every time you do a guest post, you’re given a little space in the post for a biography, with a link (as well as a few in-post links) that can direct readers back to your blog.

Sending people back to random posts or a home page is just a waste of time. What you need to do is funnel people toward a specific outcome. A successful funnel would entail:

=> Creating a niche-specific free giveaway;

=> Creating a landing page or ad for that giveaway, It doesn’t matter what it is – a free eBook, product, etc. – as long as you are intentionally directing people there;

=> Guest posting on closely related topics that are closely related to your free giveaway.

  • Choose a Topic that matters.

Advice:  Here is where you can distinguish yourself from other guest posters. A lot of people will simply write a post at this point and hope that they can be original with something that has been written already many times. Just be yourself and write about something that you love or you had a huge experience.

How to write a guest post pic 2Good blogs cover a niche so that gives you a clue about topics. Then there is a lot of thought gone into blog categories so there’s another clue. Also every good story needs a beginning, middle and end. Make sure yours does too.

Click on this link to read more about – How To Write a Guest Post and Get It Featured on Authority Sites!

  • Look for the blog owner’s name and use it.

Advice: Using someone’s name in a friendly introduction is so much nicer than Webmaster or Admin. And it will take you under a minute to find it. If the blog you’re pitching to isn’t run by a single person, make your greeting more generic but still friendly. Remember, what the site owner is looking for is whether their audience will be interested in reading the post.

  • If you want to write a guest post that matures, you need to do some research about anchor text strategy.

Advice: Each guest post should be part of an anchor text strategy. Anchor text is the text you use when you link to a post.

How to write a guest post pic 3When you do a guest post, you should have already done keyword research and know specifically what phrases you want to rank for, based on how much traffic they bring and how competitive they are. Remember, you want your guest post to be bringing you love from Google for the next a couple of years. You can read more at Ramsay Taplin’s site. His post – 7 Crucial Tactics for Writing a Wildly Successful Guest Post, is great and very informative for experienced bloggers. Actually is great for any bloggers.

  • Each comment should be answered or used as material.

Advice: One of the really important things to do when you guest post is stick around and answer every single question that you get in the comments. It’s in the comments section that long term relationships are built with the readers that you are reaching on the new blog. I love it when guest bloggers reply to comments. It’s especially good when you leave a comment on a very old post and then discover the guest blogger is still subscribed and still cares enough to reply. I’ve seen a few bloggers who do this and it leaves a very good impression.

Once that post is live, you can then link back to it in the future using the desired anchor text. This will help you elevate your own post on someone else’s website so that it matures well.

How to Publish Your Book in the iBookstore

January16

photo(5)I’m very excited and pleased to be starting off the New Year with a GREAT NEWS, I’ve got my book – The Legend of The Moonstone sets in the Apple’s iBookstore! Even if you know the book is going out into the world, its something altogether different to see it there. :-) photo 3

Apple Made it Possible for Me to Make Awesome Book…

When Apple announced iBooks Author and the iBooks store I immediately abandoned all prior efforts and jumped to the new platform. iBooks Author gives me exactly what I need to publish the book I want to make. Apple didn’t only give me the authoring tools, they also provided me the ability to distribute my book.

If you think about self-publishing with Apple’s free iBooks Author tool check out the simple steps below…

So let start it…

HOW TO: Publish an eBook with Apple iBooks?

photo 5Tablets and smartphones make for great reading devices, and you don’t get better tablets or smartphones than Apple’s iPad and iPhone. Through Apple’s iBooks store, self publishing authors have a great market through which to tout their wares, and this guide will walk you through how to get your work onto the platform.

Getting your book into the iBookstore can be a low-cost and profitable route that exposes your work to entirely new markets. But getting a book approved by Apple isn’t a simple process…ibookstore

To do that You need to follow specific guidelines for preparing and publishing in order to avoid time-consuming headaches and a rejection email.

Getting Started!!!

First of all, you’ll need to have that mind-blowing book written.

Finished? Great! That’s the hard part done! ;-)

Before your would-be bestseller can be published, you’ll need to make sure it’s well edited and properly formatted.

Follow these simple steps to learn how to create your own iBook and send it to the iBookstore:

  • Make sure you’ve added a Table of Contents for the document, which is easily done using Word’s and Page’s built-in tools.
  • Insert page breaks after every chapter. It’ll avoid inserting unnecessary stretches of white space when your final eBook is ready.
  • Make sure your cover image is added as a .JPG file, or it won’t work properly. It’ll need to be rectangular in shape and at least 600 pixels tall, and cannot contain hyperlinks or website addresses, nor any nudity.
  • Keep a check on your spelling and grammar if you don’t have an editor. Have multiple grammar pedants read and re-read your text if possible to scan it for errors.
  • There’s an upload limit of 2GB for the iBooks store, so make sure your eBook is smaller than that. That may be tough if you’re using lots of multimedia content, so consider either cutting some, shortening some, or lowering the quality of audio, video and image files.
  • Apple will not publish materials that include erotica involving underage people, nor any texts that promote intolerance or discrimination. And rightly so.

For more about iBooks Author and How to create and publish amazing books for iPad and Mac Click Here!

The good news is, once you’ve formatted your .ePub and developed your cover art for Lulu (or anyone else, really), you’ve done 90% of the work to sell it through Amazon, too. I just went through that process. By the way Amazon is definitely another route and I look at it as a great alternative. If you can get your content on the kindle as well as in the iBookstore then it reaches even more buyers!

That’s it. You now have your very own book in the Apple iBookstore for sale.

Now, of course, it’s time to market it. But that’s another post … ;-)

Does Reincarnation exist?

September29

Life between Life
and Past Lives

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.”

- William Shakespeare

Reincarnation!!!

Does Reincarnation exist? Why do people believe in Reincarnation?

This is a topic I have read books about and believe in. Reincarnation is considered by some to be the greatest “unknown” scientific discovery of modern times. Asking why people believe in Reincarnation is like asking why people believe in Santa Clause or why they believe in an afterlife? There isn’t necessarily any logic behind it and really there doesn’t have to be any reason at all other than it sounds nice.
People in general need something to believe in. Religious people, spiritual people, atheists: we all need something to believe in. It could be anything from science to the Easter bunny to reincarnation. It gives us hope and a goal to strive toward. Also Because it’s true, mostly and it’s beginning to be accepted as a real possibility by even the most skeptical people and scientists.

If you still don’t believe ask yourself why when trees ‘die’ in winter they ‘come back’ in spring? Flowers too. /Just ignore those bulb things in the Earth/. Lots of insects and amphibians change their form as they develop to.

Take all of that, questions of where our ego comes from when we are born and where it goes when we die, and a huge fear of non-existence and you get a belief in Reincarnation.

I have STRONG Faith in Reincarnation. Reincarnation is one of my favorite topics and over time I have read a ton of books including novels about Reincarnation. While the non-fiction books on past lives are some of my favorites, I do love reading novels that have something about reincarnation (and time travel) as well. I like thinking that you were once someone else, and even though you’re who you are now, there’s no telling if the past of your soul has anything to do with it. Here is the moment to share that because I’ve always been fascinated by the subject /Reincarnation/, I even  wrote a teen fiction novel based on some ideas and real stories /The legend of The Moonstone/. I hope you will enjoyed.

Anyway, Life has so much wonder. /I don’t believe that we Reincarnate into animals or such… only humans, basically to come back to learn until we reach full enlightenment./

“I have been born more times than anybody except Krishna.”
-
Mark Twain

“Finding myself to exist in the world, I believe I shall, in some shape or other, always exist.”
- Benjamin Franklin

“I am confident that there truly is such a thing as living again…”
- Socrates

I think the answer of question – Why do people believe in Reincarnation, is really simple. People believe in those concepts that give them some sense of security and purpose in life. They want to believe there is more to life than their own little existence, that there’s something that will keep them alive, the theists have their afterlives, and this lot have reincarnation. It’s nice to think you’ll get another chance at life, that this one life isn’t all that you have.
I am certain that there are some things in which you believe that others find rather mystifying. We all have lessons to learn in our past lives that carry over to our present lives. Maybe we unconsciously chose to be born into our specific families for reasons that will never be known to us. Maybe the lessons we learn in this life will need to be repeated in the next. Who knows… The Universe works in mysterious ways. So why don’t you just consider the idea that the Reincarnation exist!?

So here is my recommendation list of the best novels on reincarnation that I have checked or read so far. As I am reading more, I will be adding to this list. Some stem from real life experiences while others are just novels that entertain – and they definitely entertain and keep me occupied with reading for hours!

Have You Read Any Of These Novels About Reincarnation?

I believe Reincarnation does exist, however, I can’t prove it scientifically.  What is important to understand is that recalling past lives – real or fiction – benefits people in profound and dramatic ways.

Even if you don’t believe in Reincarnation, if you believe that everything happens for a reason, and have faith in God’s plan for you, do you ever wonder or believe did we pick our parents and families and such, to make sure we learn whatever lessons we need to learn in this current life?

What do you think of Reincarnation? Do you believe that such a thing exist? Think deeply…

Best wishes on your journey!
